Frequently Asked Questions

Rebalanced Motion provides focused, therapeutic care rather than traditional or relaxation massage. Treatment is tailored to your specific concern, and you remain fully clothed unless access to a treatment area is discussed and agreed upon.

If you have a question that isn’t answered here, please contact the clinic before booking.

General Questions

Do I need to undress?

No. Treatments are generally performed fully clothed without oils or lotions. Wear loose, flexible clothing that allows the treatment area to be accessed. Avoid jeans for lower-body appointments.

How long are appointments?

A 30-minute appointment is generally appropriate for one focused area. Choose 60 minutes when you have multiple areas, a more complex concern or require a longer TMJ-focused appointment.

Your appointment may include a symptom and movement review, treatment and reassessment.

Will my insurance cover treatment?

Services are billed under massage therapy. Coverage and referral requirements vary between insurance plans, so please confirm your benefits directly with your provider.

Direct billing is available for many plans, but payment by the insurer cannot be guaranteed.

What if I am uncomfortable with being touched?

It is completely normal to feel uncertain before a new treatment. I explain what to expect, ask for consent and remain within your comfort and tolerance throughout the appointment.

You may pause or decline any part of treatment at any time.

What professional boundaries apply?

All appointments are therapeutic and remain within massage-therapy scope and professional standards. Inappropriate behaviour or sexual comments and advances will not be tolerated.

Shockwave Therapy Questions

What concerns may Shockwave Therapy help with?

Shockwave Therapy may be considered for persistent concerns such as:

  • Plantar fasciitis and heel pain
  • Achilles or patellar tendinopathy
  • Tennis or golfer’s elbow
  • Calcific and other persistent shoulder concerns
  • Repetitive-strain injuries
  • Certain areas of scar tissue, calcification or restricted soft tissue

Suitability and results vary between individuals.

How many treatments will I need?

The number and frequency of appointments depend on the concern, how long it has been present and how you respond. Some people notice changes after a few appointments, while others require a longer or different treatment approach.

Shockwave Therapy is not recommended simply as routine preventative maintenance when there is no specific concern.

Is Shockwave Therapy safe for everyone?

No treatment is appropriate for everyone or every body area. Before treatment, I will review relevant health information and determine whether Shockwave Therapy is suitable within my professional scope.

Please contact the clinic before booking if you are pregnant, under 18, have a bleeding or clotting condition, take blood-thinning medication, have an active infection or open wound, have cancer near the proposed treatment area or have another significant medical condition.

This is not a complete contraindication list, and medical clearance or referral may sometimes be required. Current expert recommendations emphasize individual screening based on the condition, treatment area and clinical circumstances.

Which area will be treated?

We will discuss your concern and review relevant symptoms and movement before treatment. Shockwave is then applied only to areas considered appropriate for your appointment and within massage-therapy scope.

Will I be sore afterward?

Temporary tenderness, redness or soreness may occur after Shockwave Therapy. Responses vary. You will be given guidance based on your treatment and how the area responds.

Contact the clinic or an appropriate healthcare provider if you experience an unexpected or concerning reaction.

TMJ Care Questions

How do I know whether TMJ care may help me?

TMJ-focused care may be appropriate for concerns such as:

  • Jaw pain, tension or fatigue
  • Pain with chewing or yawning
  • Restricted or uneven jaw movement
  • Clicking or popping accompanied by discomfort
  • Facial or neck tension
  • Headaches associated with jaw or neck tension
  • Clenching or grinding habits

Jaw sounds without pain or restricted movement do not always require treatment. Persistent locking, swelling, sudden bite changes or symptoms following an injury should be assessed by an appropriate medical or dental provider.

What happens during a TMJ appointment?

We discuss your symptoms and observe how your jaw opens, closes and moves. Treatment may include external work to the jaw, face, head and neck.

When appropriate, optional intraoral treatment may also be offered. Gloves are always worn, and intraoral treatment is only performed after explanation and informed consent.

Do I have to receive intraoral treatment?

No. Intraoral treatment is optional. You may decline or stop it at any time, and external treatment options can still be discussed.

RAPID-NFR Questions

What is RAPID-NFR?

RAPID NeuroFascial Reset is a movement-based, hands-on treatment approach that focuses on the nervous system and fascia, which is the connective tissue surrounding muscles and other structures.

During treatment, I apply focused pressure while guiding you through active movement. This may help reduce sensitivity and support easier movement.

What does RAPID-NFR feel like?

RAPID-NFR can feel intense when sensitive areas are treated. Pressure and movement are adjusted according to your comfort and tolerance, and you may ask to pause or stop at any time.

What concerns may RAPID-NFR help with?

It may be considered for persistent pain, restricted movement, repetitive-strain concerns, headaches associated with tension and areas that feel tight, sensitive or “stuck.”

Results vary, and RAPID-NFR does not guarantee immediate or lasting relief.

Do I need to choose a treatment before booking?

No. Book a specialized treatment appointment, and we will discuss your concern, movement and goals. I will help determine whether RAPID-NFR, Shockwave Therapy, TMJ care, myofascial techniques or a combination may be the most appropriate place to begin.
